when we lived in bridgeville, 1970-73, we saw a lot of these. Armands they nested near the cal fire station and fished in the river. Now they are rarer in humboldt county. Armandβs crew saved a great horned owl that was blinded by smoke and landed in the river. They drown if they get their feathers wet. He was 28β tall and could crack a thumb- sized stick with one snap. Freed to the wild he soared at dusk and disappeared in the trees. Carrie

What a great share Carrie! I never knew owl could drown because of wet feathers. Last couple years, I typically see 4-5 owls a week, so we will see if it keeps occurring. I love you!π
