#56 Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing (Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell) πŸ‘πŸΌ

Lyrics:
Ooh, babyπŸͺ„
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, no, no
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby
Ain’t nothing like the real thing (oh, honey)πŸͺ„
I’ve got your picture hangin’ on the wall
But it can’t see or come to me when I call your name
I realize it’s just a picture in a frame
Ooh, I read your letters when you’re not near
But they don’t move me and they don’t groove me
Like when I hear your sweet voice whispering in my ear
Don’t you know?πŸͺ„
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby
Ain’t nothing like the real thingπŸͺ„
I play my game of fantasy
I pretend, but I know in reality
I need the shelter of your arms to comfort meπŸͺ„
No other sound is quite the same as your name
No touch can do half as much
To make me feel better
So let’s stay togetherπŸͺ„
I’ve got some memories to look back on
Though they help me when you’re gone
I’m well aware
Nothing can take the place of your being there, ohπŸͺ„
So glad we’ve got the real thing, baby
So glad we’ve got the real thing
Oh, Marvin (I know, honey)
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby (so glad)
(So glad, oh, darling)
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, talk to me
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby (ooh, oh, I’m so glad)
Ain’t nothing like the real thing

#55 Summertime Blues (Blue Cheer) πŸ‘πŸΌ

Lyrics:
Lord, I gotta raise a fuss, Lord, I gotta raise a holler
About workin’ all summer just to try to earn a dollar
Well, Lord, I tried to call my baby, I tried to get a dateπŸͺ„
Sometimes I wonder what I’m a-gonna do
Lord, there ain’t no cure for the summertime bluesπŸͺ„
Well, my mom and papa told me, “Son, you got to make some money”
Well, if you wanna use the car to go a ridin’ next Sunday
Oh, Lord, I didn’t go to work, I told the boss I was sick, saidπŸͺ„
Sometimes I wonder what I’m a-gonna do
Lord, there ain’t no cure for the summertime bluesπŸͺ„
I’ve got to take three weeks, I’ve got to have a fine vacation
I got to take my problem to the United Nations
I done told my Congressman and he said quote, dig this boyπŸͺ„
Sometimes I wonder what I’m a-gonna do
Lord, there ain’t no cure for the summertime bluesπŸͺ„
I’ve got to take three weeks, I’ve got to have a fine vacation
I got to take my problem to the United Nations
I done told my Congressman and he said quote, dig this boyπŸͺ„
Sometimes I wonder what I’m a-gonna do
Lord, there ain’t no cure for the summertime bluesπŸͺ„
Whoa, there ain’t no cure

“I had never seen this film. It was fascinating how they intertwined Rachel’s fantasies into her daily muddling. At 35 years old and a virgin in more ways than one, to be taken advantage of by several men and woman in the film…one for sex..one for companionship and a woman for love. I would consider watching again so I could glean more of the whole story. I think the acting was spot on.”

#54 Pictures Of Matchstick Men (Status Quo) πŸ‘πŸΌ

Lyrics:
When I look up to the sky
I see your eyes, a funny kind of yellow
I rush home to bed, I sunk my head
I see your face underneath my pillow
I wake next morning, tired, still yawning
See your face come peeping through my windowπŸͺ„
Pictures of matchstick men and you
Images of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and youπŸͺ„
Windows echo your reflection
When I look in their direction, gone
When will this haunting stop?
Your face, it just won’t leave me aloneπŸͺ„
Pictures of matchstick men and you
Images of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and youπŸͺ„
You in the sky, you with this guy
You make me cry, you lie
You in the sky, you with this guy
You make me cry, you lieπŸͺ„

#52 Light My Fire (JosΓ© Feliciano) πŸ‘πŸΌ

Lyrics:
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you, yeah
Girl, we couldn’t get much higherπŸͺ„
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fireπŸͺ„
The time for hesitation is through
There’s no time to wallow in the mire
Darling we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyreπŸͺ„
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeahπŸͺ„
Yeah, you know that it would be untrue
And you know that I would be a liar
If I was to go and tell you
Momma we couldn’t get much higherπŸͺ„
Well, come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeahπŸͺ„
Yeah, come on baby light, would you light my fire, yeah
Come on baby light my fire, would you, oh it’s alright
Light my fire, light my fire, light my fire
Light my fire, light my fire, light my fire, girl
You better light my fire
Come on baby, you better light, you better light my fire

#51 MacArthur Park (Richard Harris) πŸ‘πŸΌ

Lyrics:
Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed
In love’s hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pantsπŸͺ„
MacArthur’s Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again
Oh no!πŸͺ„
I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing checkers by the treesπŸͺ„
MacArthur’s Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again
Oh no!πŸͺ„
There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You’ll still be the oneπŸͺ„
I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
Oh, after all the loves of my life
I’ll be thinking of you
And wondering whyπŸͺ„
MacArthur’s Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again
Oh no!πŸͺ„
Oh no
No
Oh no!

“This was like watching a real princes of England show today. All the relationship twists and back-stabbing to boot. Fun to see Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn acting with one another. Good timeless flick.”

“I enjoyed watching this film and I had not seen this since I was a young child. Amazing how many songs I remembered. I even remember soliciting my cousins to replicate the carriage scene with the young pickpockets for Nancy. A memory I had totally forgotten. Nice to see again and this one is put to bed.”

#50 Jumpin’ Jack Flash (The Rolling Stones) πŸ‘πŸΌ

Lyrics:
I was born in a cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma’ in the driving rain
But it’s all right now, in fact, it’s a gas
But it’s all right, I’m jumpin’ Jack Flash
It’s a gas, gas, gasπŸͺ„
I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag
I was schooled with a strap right across my back
But it’s all right now, in fact, it’s a gas
But it’s all right, I’m Jumpin’ Jack Flash
It’s a gas, gas, gas, uhπŸͺ„
I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled, yeah yeah
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread
Yeah, yeah, yeahπŸͺ„
I was crowned with a spike right through my head
But it’s all right now, in fact, it’s a gas
But it’s all right, I’m Jumpin’ Jack Flash
It’s a gas, gas, gasπŸͺ„
Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a gasπŸͺ„
Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a gas
Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a gas
